When Bernard learns that his wife, Jacqueline, is visiting her mother, he seizes the opportunity to invite his lover over. Jacqueline, however, grows suspicious and stays. To cover up, Bernard claims his guest is his close friend Robert—who, unbeknownst to him, is Jacqueline's secret lover. In a series of hilarious misunderstandings, nobody ends up playing the role they had planned.
